This photograph is from the Palmer Family photograph collection which was donated to the library by John Palmer’s great-great granddaughter, Heather Beehre. John Palmer worked for the Melanesian Mission from 1863 and was stationed at Norfolk Island from 1867. He became the Archdeacon of Southern Melanesia in 1894 until his death in 1902.
